What Cargo Bikes Can We Fit?
Our Electric Mountain Drive, Type 3 uses fitted clamps or brackets to adapt it to different bikes. These mount the motor system to the frame just forward of the bottom bracket.
Because we have a large selection of clamps and brackets from our Electric Mid-Drive products, we can fit most Dutch Bakfeit Style cargo bikes currently available. Below is a list of frame shapes and sizes we can fit. Don't hesitate to call us if you would like help in choosing. Also, if there isn't something here that will work, our
Custom Department can probably come up with something that will.
- Square or rectangular frames: any size.
- Round frames, clamps: 32mm, 34mm, 38mm, 40.5mm, 42mm, 45mm
- Round frames, quarter brackets: 48mm, 51mm, 56mm
Round clamps wrap most of the way around the frame tube and may require drilling a small hole through any ribs underneath the tube. Quarter brackets are an EcoSpeed designed system that attaches our drive units to a frame tube using concealed rivet nuts. These are ideal for use on cargo bikes because the rivet nuts attach to the sides of the frame in an area of low stress concentration. Our square tube brackets work similarly.

Cargo bikes are an extremely varied class that includes not only bakfeits but also long bikes, pedicabs, and all sorts of custom designs. Our range of Electric Mid-Drive and Electric Mountain Drive systems give us many possibilites for coming up with a solution for your bike. If all else fails, we can order the BMC V2T high torque hub motor. Paired with our Velociraptor controller they can be a good choice for carrying lighter loads at moderate speeds.
